Benefits

There are numerous benefits of WBV training as evidenced by its acceptance in major medical, rehabilitation and therapeutic centers across the country.

The health benefits are multifold and results can be achieved easily.  WBV can enhance your general well being and quality of life regardless of age, current exercise habits, or physical condition.  WBV training is not difficult, but it can be challenging – it can be as simple or as hard as you make it.

Practical experience indicates that there are a number of disorders where it is beneficial to integrate Whole Body Vibration training into ones treatment.  pvpro2.jpg

  • WBV increases your lymphatic drainage and the release of endorphins
  • WBV trains your equilibrium sense for improved balance and coordination
  • WBV enhances your blood flow and oxygenation

History of WBV

In 1857 by a Swedish doctor - Gustav Zander built 70 different exercise machines, some of which provided a type of vibration exercise.  After exhibiting at two World Fairs, he started the Zander Institutes, (an early form of today’s health clubs) which proved to become very popular throughout the world.

In 1895 Battle Creek, Michigan, the developer of Corn Flakes, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, invented a WBV machine.  This was a unique chair design that shook aggressively and was effective with constipation, headaches and back pain.  He eventually developed a standing platform.

By 1960, the beginning of today’s standard of vibration exercise arose.  In East Germany a technique called rhythmic neuromuscular stimulation was being used by Professor W.Biermann to improve the condition of joints.

Russian scientists like Vladimir Nazarov began studies of WBV in order to increase performance in athletes and to help rehabilitate their cosmonauts after returning from space. WBV helped repair muscles from atrophy and bone density due to the weightlessness and lack of resistance in a zero gravity atmosphere.  In 1995, a Russian Cosmonaut named Valery Polakov MD set a world record for being in space for 438 days.  Thanks to vibration technology Russian’s had the advantage of vibration technology, and their Cosmonauts were able to stay in space for more than 400 days, while American Astronauts had to return after approximately 100 days.

The Russians also used this technology to prevent injuries to their Olympic athletes.  In the event that one of their athletes did injure themselves, they used WBV therapy to rehabilitate the damage.

In the past, WBV units were only found in gyms or health institutions as the units would normally cost $10,000 or more.  After decades of research worldwide, several Universities, NASA, national sports’ teams, medical centers, spas and health clubs have all embraced this technology.
